India and Japan cement defense ties. Ink landmark ACSA pact, India to get access to Djibouti in Africa
It concerns Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services between the Armed Forces of India and The Self-Defense Forces of Japan. The latter is based in Djibouti and is Japan’s only permanent military base outside Japan. This is an interesting alliance, as both countries aim to leverage Chinese influence in the region.

Ahead of the Indo-Japan Annual summit, an agreement on reciprocal provision of supplies and services between armed forces of the two countries was inked in New Delhi. The two countries have been working hard to close this acquisition and cross-servicing agreement. The date and agenda of the India-Japan Annual summit has yet to be finalized.
Also, with this agreement in place, interoperability between the Armed Force of India and Japan will be enhanced, under the Special Strategic & Global Partnership between the two countries there will be a significant increase in defense engagements at the bilateral level
The ACSA was negotiated since 2018. The logistics support means fuel, oils, lubricants, spare parts, maintenance, etc.
